Project #1 – Animalia – This project is open to the first 20 people to register here. Must be 14 years old and over. Volunteering is from 1:00pm – 5:00pm. If you can’t volunteer for this project, see how else you can help this Spartan run non-profit charity.
Project #2 – Indy Urban Acres Farm – **Cancelled due to too much water in the field.**
Project #3 – Keep Indianapolis Beautiful: Neighborhood Clean Up – This project is just west of downtown (near Washington St and Holt Rd) so we are hoping our downtown and westside Spartans will volunteer for this one. The neighborhood has many elderly residents who are not able to help so they need our help. They have paired up with Steak n Shake (3810 W Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46241) and volunteers will receive free chili. The project is open to the first 20 people to register here. There is no age restriction. Volunteering is from 8am – 11am.We hope that you will volunteer at one of our projects!
Michigan State is once again paired with the Slippery Noodle for both the women’s and men’s tournaments.
Where are our runners especially our MSU Track team alums? We are looking for runners to represent the Spartans in the Hoops Day 5K on Saturday, March 12th at 8:00am so we can bring home the team bragging rights. We are off to a good start as NCAA National Champion/Spartan grad/Indy Spartan Sara Kroll has confirmed she will be running. If you would like to join her, please register here. Jim Arnold, Spartan Alum and owner of Kahn’s Fine Wines and Spirits, has created a wonderful wine tasting event for us. The event will be held on Saturday, February 13th in the Kahn’s (Keystone location) private banquet room “The Kahnoisseur’s Room.” The event will begin at 6:30pm but you may begin arriving at 6pm. There will be two wine serving stations with 4-5 wines per station with a knowledgable Kahn’s employee pouring at each station. A nice selection of Artisan Cheeses, crackers, fruit, etc will also be provided. You will also receive a Tasting Sheet to help you keep track of what wine you want to purchase and take home with you.
We will have Dr. Paolo Sabbatini joining us from Michigan State. He is an Associate Professor of Horticulture and world renowned wine expert who will be speaking about the wine industry and giving us an overview of various types of grapes and wines. We will also have some MSU wines to raffle off.
The cost to attend is $25 per person (if you pay by January 15th) and $30 per person (after January 15th). Jim is also going to put all the wines tasted on sale that evening and is donating 25% of the sales to the Indy Spartans Scholarship fund. Money for the ticket(s) is due by Friday January 15th to take advantage of the Early Bird Special of $25 per person. After January 15th, the cost is $30 per person and due by February 11th. We will have a special guest (TBA) from MSU attending to speak with us about the red and white wines that MSU is producing. We will also be raffling off some of the MSU wine. On Saturday, you won’t want to miss all of the activities at the Meijer Tail Greater Party on Georgia Street in downtown Indianapolis. Georgia Street, directly east of the Indiana Convention Center, will be teeming with action from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Game Day. The party will feature food trucks, a beverage garden, ice sculpting, a live band, merchandise, and much more to create the ultimate tailgate experience. At 3 p.m., take a break to watch the Major League Eating contest featuring Joey Chestnut and other professional eaters. Their challenge: the World Famous St. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail. 2015 Big Ten Football Championship Fan Fest
Downtown Indianapolis is the place to be before the game on Friday and Saturday. Experience the Big Ten Fan Fest presented by Dr. Pepper on Friday, December 4, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. More than 200,000 square feet of the Indiana Convention Center will be transformed into a sports wonderland with interactive games such as a field goal kick, quarterback toss, golf simulator, 40-yard dash and much more. Entertainment will include special guest appearances, mascots, team bands, giveaways and food and beverage. Entrance to the Big Ten Fan Fest is free with a Big Ten Football Championship Game ticket.
