Join the Indy Spartans for a picnic in the park!
When: Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Fort Harrison State Park – Sycamore Shelter / 6000 N Post Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46216 ** Free admission!
To make this event even more family friendly, we have chosen a new location for our picnic this year that has restrooms and a playground right near the picnic shelter. It is in Fort Harrison State Park, which charges admission per vehicle, but if you arrive at the entrance to the park any time after 12 p.m. and tell them you are with the Indy Spartans, admission is free! Come early or stay late to enjoy the park’s paved and rustic trails for hiking and biking, fishing access, and more.
Activities during the picnic will include awards and recognition presentations, cornhole, bocce ball, ladder golf and fun for the kids. Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. If you can, please bring a side dish or dessert to share.
For those interested, alcohol is permitted in the park for guests age 21 and over. We ask that you remember this is a family event and small children will be in attendance. Please monitor your beverages to ensure the safety of Spartans under age 21.
Please use the link above to RSVP for this event if you think you might attend. It will help us ensure that we have enough food and beverages for everyone.
Bring your family and tell your Spartan friends! See you there!
The SPARTANS WILL. POWER Global Day of Service, set for April 18, 2015, is Michigan State University’s way of showing the world the extraordinary impact Spartans can make in a single day. This organized, collaborative effort brings Spartans together to serve others in their communities while demonstrating the reach and power of the Spartan network. This year we have teamed with Habitat for Humanity and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful to offer two volunteer opportunities. Find the details below.
A) The Habitat for Humanity of Hamilton County needs help building a house in Noblesville. The morning shift is from 9:00-12:00pm. The afternoon shift is 12:00-3:00pm. You may choose one or both time slots.
B) Please join fellow Spartans and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) in cleaning up a neighborhood in the Meridian Kessler area (38th and College). The shift is from 8:00-1:00pm.
Hope to see you there! Go Green!
We would like to thank ALL Spartans who visited Indianapolis to attend the Final Four or to simply just celebrate with other Spartans. It was fantastic to see the turnout at the Slippery Noodle Saturday afternoon and evening. The Spartan Nation definitely showed up! Our Spartan basketball team made a great run in the tournament. Alumni and fans across the country showed up along the road and wanted to be in Indy for the final step. Unfortunately, the team came up a little short but it doesn’t take away the passion that the Spartan Nation showed yesterday. We hope all enjoyed themselves while in Indianapolis. We invite you to come back every time the Spartans are in Indy!
Our Spartans are on a great run through the tourney and are one win away from coming to Indy! For the Elite 8 game vs Louisville on Sunday we will once again have TWO game watch locations (both locations are family friendly):
1. Stacked Pickle – 96th St.
2. Colts Grille – Downtown (110 W. Washington St.) Jenna Rutherford, our Young Alumni Rep, will be your host.
Tip off is 2:20pm but arrive early to secure your spot!
GAME WATCH LOCATIONS
For this Friday’s Sweet 16 basketball game vs Oklahoma we will have TWO game watch locations (both locations are family friendly):
1. Stacked Pickle – 96th St
We will have Indy Spartan sweatshirts for sale. Cost is $25. We also have some discontinued items for sale as well.
2. Colts Grille – Downtown (110 W. Washington St.)
Through the surveys we have done the last couple of years, we have heard from many Spartans that don’t live on the Northside of Indy that it is too far to drive to the Stacked Pickle. The Colts Grille contacted us about hosting our group Friday night so we are willing to give it a try to see if this is something we want to pursue more in the future. Rick Rosales, who lives downtown, will be your host. The Colts Grille has reserved 20 seats for us at this time. If you are on Facebook please indicate on the event if you plan to attend. If you are not on Facebook and plan to attend, please send an email to email@example.com indicating how many will attend. I want to make sure everyone has a seat. Friday’s from 9pm until close are buy one, get one free on appetizers.
If we are victorious on Friday night, please check here for Game Watch location(s) for Sunday!
Yesterday we received an email from our contact for the Slam Dunk/3-Pt Championships. In the email, he stated “If MSU falls short of the Final Four, there are good odds Dawson will be participating in the dunk contest.” After reading that we have reopened the window to order tickets. Ticket orders will now close at noon on Monday, March 23rd. We have 72 people going so far. The ticket prices are $10 each, children ages 3-12 are $8 each. ESPN will host the State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Pt Championships at Hinkle Fieldhouse on April 2nd. http://www.collegeslam.com/ All seating is general admission but if our group is a good size they will give us early entrance and a group photo on the historic court. The event is scheduled to begin at 7pm with doors opening at 5:30pm. If you are interested in purchasing tickets please email Paul at firstname.lastname@example.org and let him know how many tickets you want and if those are the $10 or children aged 3-12 $8 tickets. Feel free to invite your family and friends!
Did you know that the Final Four is in Indy this year? Yesterday we received information about an event that occurs the Thursday before the Final Four. On April 2nd, ESPN will host the State Farm College Slam Dunk and 3-Pt Championships at Hinkle Fieldhouse. http://www.collegeslam.com/ Last year, Adreian Payne competed in the Slam Dunk Contest. If Michigan State doesn’t make it to the Final Four there is a chance that Brandon Dawson could be in Slam Dunk Contest and/or Travis Trice could compete in the 3-Pt Contest. If we are able to get a group of 15+ people to attend, the ticket prices are $10 each, children ages 3-12 are $8 each. All seating is general admission but if our group is a good size they will give us early entrance and a group photo on the historic court. The event is scheduled to begin at 7pm with doors opening at 5:30pm. If you are interested in purchasing tickets please email Paul at email@example.com by March 18th and let him know how many tickets you want and if those are the $10 or $8 tickets. Feel free to invite your family and friends!
